Rising tenor free jazz saxophonist Zoh Amba performs in collaboration with Wobbly (aka Jon Leidecker of Negativland), using machine listening apparatuses in feedback with Amba's powerful sound. Tamara Duplantis & Jasmine Otto open as Floating Shard, a collaboration that fuses lo-fi electropop and improvised jazz fusion into prog-inflected bops.

Zoh Amba & Wobbly

Hailing from Tennessee and now residing in New York, Zoh Amba is a 22 year-old tenor saxophonist who performs with a deep sense of spirituality and emotional power. Growing up in the Tennessee mountains, she practiced and played in the forest before continuing her studies in San Francisco and Boston. She met the Bay Area based electroacoustic improviser Jon Leidecker (aka Wobbly) at a music festival in Germany, and they took the stage together roughly two hours after the first time they shook hands without any foreknowledge of each other's sound. Now they're touring the West Coast, hoping to record an album they've never heard before.

Floating Shard

Floating Shard is a performance duo that fuses lo-fi electropop and improvised jazz fusion into prog-inflected bops, using a percussion synth and hand-me-down Casio. Floating Shard is Tamara Duplantis (keys, electronics) & Jasmine Otto (percussion). Duplantis is a Louisiana-born computational media artist, experimental musician, homebrew Game Boy developer, and teacher of the arts; her experimental chiptune improvisation game Atchafalaya Arcade has been installed at games festivals and art exhibitions across the globe. Otto studied drums at UIC, and has performed with small jazz groups in Chicago's northwestern suburbs.

Tamara Duplantis is a Louisiana-born computational media artist, experimental musician, homebrew Game Boy developer, and teacher of the arts. Under the name Tambalaya, she often travels through the countryside making music out of glitchy Game Boy cartridges and hand-me-down toy Casios. Her experimental chiptune improvisation game Atchafalaya Arcade has been installed at games festivals and art exhibitions across the globe.

Jasmine Otto is a data ecologist interested in reifications of complex systems, especially through constellated scientific practice. These involve rhetorics of dimensionality reduction and data visualization, and contexts both narrative and improvisational. She is exploring the role of computational creativity in scientific sociotechnical ecologies, including existing and future uses of narrated explorable models and casual creator support tools. Her creative writing is influenced by the lightness of enacted proof, inherent to uncivilizing myths. She is a PhD student in the Design Reasoning Lab at UC Santa Cruz, and holds an MS from the University of Illinois at Chicago in applied mathematics.
