Two years in the making, Ahwar was composed, written and produced by El Shazly herself in collaboration with Maurice Louca and Sam Shalabi on co-composition and arrangement duties. The album was crafted across two continents, between Canada and Egypt, and features the best of Montreal’s contemporary-classical and improvised music scene, most of whom are members of Shalabi’s Land of Kush.
Aurora Beam
Aurora Beam, the one and only jazz punk duo from Watsonville, CA emerged from a summer of PokémonGO and small town boredom. The band mixes elements from jazz, prog, and punk music to make a new and innovative sound. They push the limits not only sonically, but creativity as well. Being only a two piece and also instrumental, there’s nothing left to be desired. Aurora Beam music pushes and pulls, falls and picks up, with unexpected turns at every corner, it leaves you wanting more.
