R/S is a longform ambient guitar solo written for a custom-built double neck guitar. The instrument combines the properties of an electric guitar and a cello, opening windows for droning dark and resonant bowed fretless textures coexisting with guitar harmonics and melodies all transformed through an array of effect pedals. This piece is a series of constellations developing at different paces and interacting in new ways as they evolve.

Nicholas Deyoe is a Los Angeles based guitarist, composer, and conductor. He is a co-founder of wasteLAnd ensemble and concert series and is a member of the dark-ambient electric guitar duo KillDry with Jay Sorce. His music has been called “intriguingly complex and excitedly lush” by the LA Times. The New York Times wrote that Deyoe’s a new(er) anxiety “contrasted filigree lightness and explosive loudness…without seeming to strain for effect.” Drawn to sounds that are inherently physical, Nicholas strives to create music that engages listeners intellectually and emotionally by appealing to their inner physicality.

Joshuah Maya Garcia is a Chicana trans woman and Queer artist based out of Santa Cruz, CA, making experimental, noise, and ambient music. Originally a cellist, her current work focuses on guitar and electronic synthesis, occasionally delving into instrumental works. Her music explores contradiction and catharsis through texture, color, and contour. She draws inspiration from the landscapes around her, as well as recordings of nature and other instrumentalists.
