From the occult details of quadrature amplitude modulation to how camera feedback models reaction diffusion systems, this workshop will help beginners get started doing live visuals, and fill in any gaps an experienced video artist might have. No prerequisite knowledge of anything is required to have a good time!

Andrei Jay is a mathematician, video artist, and educator. Paloma Kop is an experimental multimedia artist and ambient musician. Together, they do live audio visual performances and organize community and educational events for media artists.

They have helped start scanlines.xyz, organized events through Phase Space, and have been guest lecturers at Wesleyan University, Hamilton College, and NYU. Their current endeavor is Phase Shift, a movement for connecting artists and organizations across the US in ways that bypass consumerism-driven social media in favor of inclusive, community-driven networks.

Allen Riley is a media artist and educator. He designs hands-on learning at Beam Center and builds indie arcade cabinets with Death by Audio Arcade. Riley received an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics in 2012 and is a PhD student in Film & Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
