Indexical is seeking candidates for the Executive Director position who have a demonstrated passion for experimental music, interdisciplinary artistic work, and contemporary performing arts more generally.  The Executive Director will manage concert and event curation, programming and production, fundraising, marketing, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have experience in these areas and will bring vision and guidance to the organization in order to sustain as well as to create new opportunities and programs that engage the cultural life of the local community and beyond. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and part-time staff to ensure Indexical’s fiscal stability and to carry out its mission and operations.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit arts presenting organization based in Santa Cruz, California dedicated to fostering the work of experimental and forward-thinking sound and visual artists on both a local and international level. With a small venue located in the Tannery Arts Center, Indexical presents over 30 programs throughout the year, including a broad range of experimental music, visual exhibitions, video installation, workshops, poetry, and site-specific interdisciplinary work. This is a salaried position. Hours will vary throughout the course of the year, with more demand on time during the presenting season which typically runs from September to mid-June with a two week break in December. Summers are much less demanding, when typically no events are scheduled. Compensation is $45k to $70k annually depending on expertise, with four weeks of vacation, sick leave, personal days and holidays, full medical benefits and the option to fund a 401K.
